    Résumé : L’inflammation respiratoire profonde (IAD) est un trouble des voies respiratoires, pouvant affecter les chevaux de tout âge. Les profils cytologiques caractérisant l’IAD étant relativement hétérogènes, plusieurs études ont évalué la pertinence de différents marqueurs inflammatoires dans le sang et/ou les liquides respiratoires. Ainsi l’élastase et la myélopéroxydase, dosées dans le lavage trachéal ou bronchoalvéolaire, sont considérés comme des marqueurs d’activation et de dégranulation neutrophilique résultant d’une inflammation aigue ou chronique. De même, les protéinases matricielles peuvent représenter de possibles marqueurs de phase active et destructive d’inflammation respiratoire profonde. À l’opposé, les mécanismes moléculaires (dont les réponses cytokiniques) en jeu lors d’IAD restent actuellement encore mal définis, mais pourraient contribuer au développement de nouveaux traitements mieux ciblés. Au niveau systémique, le sérum amyloïde A est un marqueur inflammatoire très sensible en routine clinique, mais cependant révélé inefficace pour détecter des chevaux atteints d’IAD subclinique. La protéine D de surfactant peut également être détectée dans la circulation sanguine, notamment par relargage du tissu pulmonaire.
