    Résumé : L’inflammation des voies respiratoire profondes (IAD) est un trouble des voies respiratoires, pouvant affecter les chevaux de tout âge. Plusieurs agents étiologiques (infectieux et non-infectieux) peuvent être impliqués dans l’initiation ou le maintien de ce syndrome. Ainsi, l’inflammation respiratoire profonde a été associée à l’isolement d’agents pathogènes dans le LT ; le risque d’observer ce syndrome étant significativement augmenté avec le nombre de CFU/ml. Alors que la séroconversion n’est pas un critère étiologique pertinent pour d’inflammation respiratoire chez le cheval athlète, la détection d’herpèsvirus par PCR dans le LT est significativement associée à une neutrophilie concomitante ; ces observations de terrain ayant été récemment confirmées en conditions expérimentales. Par ailleurs, les chevaux sont fréquemment exposés aux différentes particules provenant entre autres de la nourriture et de la litière. Une forte corrélation existe entre les concentrations en poussières et en endotoxines dans l’air, celles-ci étant 8 fois plus élevées dans l’air inhalé en écurie qu’en pâture. Les proportions de neutrophiles dans le LT et/ou LBA sont également significativement associées aux concentrations et à la durée d’exposition aux particules dans l’air. […]
