La dysphagie est une anomalie de la déglutition qui se manifeste principalement par des aliments recrachés, du ptyalisme et/ou du jetage alimentaire. Elle peut être secondaire à une pathologie buccale, pharyngée, laryngée ou oesophagienne. L’obstruction des voies respiratoires supérieures se manifeste par une dyspnée inspiratoire associée le plus souvent à du bruit respiratoire. L’obstruction peut se situer au niveau des méats nasaux, du pharynx, du larynx, de la trachée. Les causes possibles de l’obstruction sont multiples. Ces deux manifestations doivent amener le clinicien à explorer les voies respiratoires supérieures.

Summary
Dysphagia is a disturbance in the swallowing function, leading to food dropping, ptyalism, and/or alimentary nasal discharge. It ca be caused by an oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, or oesophageal disease. Upper respiratory tract obstruction leads to inspiratory dyspnea commonly associated with respiratory noise. Obstruction can be located in nostrils, pharynx, larynx, or trachea. These two syndromes should lead the clinician to explore upper respiratory tract.
