Equine dentistry is one of the most common tasks performed by large animal practitioners [1]. Despite this, evidence-based approaches to clinical equine dentistry are rare for a number of reasons and, for the majority of clinical situations; there is no evidence upon which to base a clinical decision. It is even difficult to prospectively research this evidence satisfactorily because of the perceived importance of the intervention by veterinarians, equine dental technicians and owners.
