    El evento, seguido por más de 200 profesionales de forma presencial y cerca de 700 vía streaming, se estructuró en varias sesiones en cuya organización participaron distintas compañías del sector.

    Los últimos estudios epidemiológicos muestran que el 60 % de los patógenos
    humanos son de origen animal y que el 75 % de las enfermedades animales emergentes
    son de carácter zoonótico. En consecuencia, la salud de los animales, del ambiente, de las plantas y de las personas están conectadas, tal y como expone el enfoque de “Una Sola Salud” (One Health) desarrollado por la FAO, la OIE y la OMS hace unos años.
    En torno a este concepto giró la Cumbre One Health, organizado por la Fundación Bamberg y celebrada el pasado 23 de marzo en Madrid, en la que intervinieron representantes de diversas disciplinas y responsables públicos de la Sanidad Española, tanto humana como animal, junto a los de Agricultura y Ganadería, Medioambiente y Energía de las instituciones centrales del Estado y de algunas Comunidades Autónomas.

    Impacto de la salud animalen la salud humana
    Zoetis participó en el evento con una sesión dividida en varios paneles y centrada en el “Impacto de la salud animal en la salud humana”, en línea con su propósito de “Cuidar del mundo y de las personas a través de la innovación en salud y bienestar animal”.
    Al frente del panel de “Enfermedades transmisibles de origen animal, zoonosis y vacunación” estuvo Alicia Urniza, directora del Centro de Excelencia en I+D+i de Zoetis y del Área de Biológicos en Europa. Según expuso: “Un ejemplo claro de One Health, y de cómo desde la sanidad animal ayudamos a proteger la salud pública, es la innovación impulsada en Zoetis ante la necesidad de una vacuna COVID-19 para animales de zoológico durante la pandemia” y su posterior donación a diversos centros. La acompañaron diversos expertos,
    que compartieron ejemplos y su experiencia acerca de los principales “gaps” y desafíos en One Health en los que debemos focalizarnos en los próximos años: Elena Andradas (Consejería de Sanidad de la CAM), Bruno González (UCM), José Luis Sáez (MAPA), Lucía de Juan (Visavet- UCM), Joaquim Segalés (CReSA-IRTA) y Luis E. Martín (UCM).
