About this course

We are offering the opportunity to purchase this fully recorded course at any time of the year to suit your schedule.

Equine emergencies can be stressful and often require a coordinated team approach to ensure the best outcome.  This is particularly true for foaling emergencies where the life of mare and foal are at risk and time is of upmost importance. Nurses play a key role in assessing and treating a wide variety of injuries, accidents and diseases and their expertise and patient care is indispensable when dealing with new-born foals.  This course will refresh and expand your knowledge on key principles of foaling complications, foal care and other common equine emergencies.  A key component of the course will focus on working effectively together as a team of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses.

Why do this course?

This course is aimed at veterinary nurses working in equine general practice or a hospital setting.  It will discuss how nurses and vets can work as a team to achieve the best outcome. The course focusses on practical aspects, highlighting tips and tricks how to deal with these challenging situations most effectively.

This course last ran in February 2019 and contains all of the learning material (webinars, reading material, slides, self assessment exercises) from then, but is not tutor moderated.

You have six weeks in which to view the course.  The course can be purchased in advance and activated as and when you are ready to start.  Your six weeks will start from the point of activation.  When you have finished the course you may request a CPD certificate. If you require any assistance please contact the CPD Unit at cpd@rvc.ac.uk or 01707 666865.
