Alexandra Thiemann qualified from Cambridge veterinary school and worked in mixed, then equine practice. After completing the Certificate in Equine Practice, Alex moved to work for the Donkey Sanctuary in 1998, having been a committed donkey owner as a child. Alex is familiar with all aspects of donkey medicine and surgery. Alex received a master’s in international animal health from Edinburgh in 2009 and a teaching qualification from the RVC and has extensive experience working with donkeys in a variety of UK and overseas challenges where donkeys are used for transport, tourism, therapy, meat, milk and skin. She has also contributed to many articles and books relating to the health and welfare of the donkey.
