Dr. Smith is retired. Her prior work included facilitation, training, consulting, and writing for veterinary practices and industry, as well as evaluating trends and opportunities in veterinary medicine. Before that, she worked in large and small animal practices in Montana, New Mexico, and Washington State.
In her spare time, Dr. Smith volunteers in her community. For Wenatchee City Parks, she helped create the first public dog park in North Central Washington State. With the Parque Padrinos and the Trust for Public Land, she helped renovate a park in south Wenatchee, including installing a large mosaic. With Rotary, she leads her club and District on the Haiti HANWASH project, bringing potable water systems to areas without running water. With the Confluence Health Foundation Board, she helps improve and maintain high-quality, local healthcare for the region. She worked with the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center to create a bilingual (English-Spanish) book focusing on the history of the Wenatchee Valley. Un lugar de abundancia / A Place of Plenty was chosen as a must-read by the North Central Washington Equity Alliance for Hispanic Heritage Month.
Areas of interest: Workshops, team development, work process and flow, mediation, facilitation, gender and work issues, independent contractor evaluation, relief veterinarians, house call veterinarians, career development, team development, organizational development. Her volunteer activities focus on public parks, equitable health care, and clean water.
