Giorgio Ricardi qualified from the University of Turin in 1989 and went on to do an internship in equine surgery at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket between 1991 and 1992. He then returned to Italy, where he worked in private practice for a number of years, with particular areas of interest including lameness and surgery. During this time he was contract professor in equine surgery at the University of Pisa and visiting equine surgeon at the University of Milan. In 2014 he went to Abu Dhabi, UAE to work as senior clinician at Warsan Racing Stables, before moving the following year to Donnington Grove Veterinary Group in Newbury, where he is a lameness clinician and surgeon. He is a certified member of the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology and past president of the Italian Association of Equine Practitioners (SIVE) and of the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations (FEEVA).
