Charles Love graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed a residency in large animal reproduction at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He continued at the University of Pennsylvania in a PhD programme in comparative medical sciences, focusing on the evaluation of stallion sperm quality and the relationship to fertility. A primary focus of this work was the use of flow cytometry to evaluate sperm DNA quality. Charles is a diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists and teaches equine reproduction in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University, where he is currently an associate professor. His main interest is stallion reproduction and those factors that affect horse fertility.
