As a life scientist originating from a dairy farm, I obtained my Ph.D. on skin tissue engineering (the development of artificial skin to treat patients with e.g. burns) at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre department of biochemistry. Thereafter I worked two years as a postdoc at the department of physiology on the molecular mechanisms behind the cardiovascular and metabolic effects of physical inactivity and exercise training.
At Intracare, I strengthen the Product Development & Registration team in the search for new products and applications. My first achievement was a succesful clinical trials together with the University of Utrecht for our new product and I am working on the preparation of registration dossiers. I will use my expertise to develop new medicines against different types of skin diseases in animals and also to work on the treatment of diarrhea in pigs. Intracare is on the forefront of companies that are developing new molecules and treatment schemes in the intensive livestock industry as an alternative for antibiotics.
