Dr. Robert Cullen grew up in Northern Virginia and before focusing on animals was convinced he was going to be a paleontologist. He completed his undergrad at Virginia Tech, double majoring in Biology and History and minoring in Chemistry. He went on to complete his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. Afterwards, he pursued an emergency medicine internship at VCA SouthPaws Specialty and Emergency Center, and then completed internships in Surgery and Rehabilitative + Sports Medicine at VSC and VOSM before finding a home at VCA Centreville Animal Hospital.
He is interested in preventative medicine, surgery, and behavioral medicine. But he is most passionate when discussing orthopedic conditions and pain management while incorporating rehabilitation therapies. He's also an absolute sucker for seeing a new puppy or kitten.
In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, running Spartan races, watching movies, and going camping with his wife, Carlyn, and his two hyper-excitable dogs, Jochi and Khufu.
