After graduation Bernard worked for 2 years at the Surgery department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent. In 1992 he was one of the founding partners of Referral Hospital de Bosdreef. In 2001 Bernard became Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Besides his daily veterinary work Bernard is responsable for the general management of the hospital.
