Date
Jan. 24-25, 2020

Location
Moore Equine Veterinary Centre, 260048A Writing Creek Crescent, Rocky View County, Alberta, Canada (English) T4A 0M9

Description
This 2-day interactive course has been designed to provide practitioners with the theoretical and practical background on the care of the neonatal and post-neonatal foal. On the 1st day, lectures and small group sessions will focus on the care of the foal in a first opinion setting and on recognition and initial therapy for conditions of the foal commonly encountered in practice. Orthopedic conditions and aspects of foal care best achieved in a clinic or hospital setting will be covered on the second day, which is also when attendees will rotate through the practical and interactive case discussions. Hands-on practical sessions on models and specimens include placement of over-the-wire catheters (using models) and bandaging/splinting/casting, as well as video-based PowerPoint discussions on imaging of the foal.
